FRINGE FRENZY - The Ultimate Fringe Edit for 2025

Have you joined the fringe frenzy yet?

If not, but you're thinking about it and don''t know which route to take, here's our guide to what's what, what's hot, and what's not.

A fringe is a great way to make a change on longer hair without the commitment of a full on chop. But what is the right fringe/bangs for you, your hair type and your face shape?  (we like to say fringe here at NMS being British)

There is pretty much a fringe for everyone , it's just working out what will suit you and what will work with your hair type. Always talk through your options with your stylist before making a commitment.

Your fringe should flatter your face shape.

BASIC RULES

  • Square or heart-shaped faces: look best with wispier, feathered fringe to add softness.

  • Oblong face shapes: are a perfect match for blunt-cut bangs.

  • Round faces: can get added dimension from side-swept or curtain bangs, also those with a medium to short forehead.

  • Oval-shaped faces: can pull off just about any type of bang.

  • Triangular Face Shapes: a bardot finge, less severe and a bit choppy. Also side swept and crescent fringes can complement.

Fuller fringes just above the eyes are more suitable for a longer face whereas for a rounder face a more open fringe ( ie a curtain fringe) is better so as not to close the features in.

Curly fringes are typically cut longer, so that hair won't shrink up your forehead as it curls, unless you want a curly micro fringe of course.

Side bangs sweep across your forehead create angles on round faces

Gamine fringes are cut somewhere in the middle of your forehead and work best on oval shape faces.

If you have a cows lick it's important to know what will work with it. If it;'s really stong then a full fringe may be out of the question, but you could work with hair the hair spokits and make it a feature with the fringe.

So whats on trend right now, we hear you asking?? .

The full fringe is making its comeback after hanging around in the "where is it now" file these past few years, whilst curtain bangs and side swept fringes took centre stage last year, however, they're still a strong contention for this year's fringe to have,

We've already seen the full fringe at the Schiaparelli Show, and the solid micro Gamine fringes, were seen on Lady Gaga at the Grammys, and Myley Cyrus at the Oscars.

Long story short, discuss with your stylist what will work for you. The team at NMS are waiting for you, and will give you the best fringe advice or cut you can get, and if you're not quite ready to commit to a chop but are curious to see, why not try a clip in fringe to test out the look before you go for it for real. ( (FYI We think Miley's is a clip in) It's also a great way to find out which fringe works best for you, your face shape and hair texture too.

To finish off this post, here's some fringes recently cut on our lovely guests at the studio for inspiration
